Today’s kids will soon rule tomorrow’s world. Teaching them the green living values is critical for their own survival and for the future of our planet. In DiscoveryLand Camp youth discovers how to live in harmony with nature through ‘green’ style of camping with lots of outdoors trips, adventures and activities.
Campers reside in sheltered, good quality, weather-proof cabin tents made by Coleman; four campers per unit, feeling as a part of Earth. We make wilderness accessible without having to leave a trace behind. Sleeping places are equipped with beds.
Solid heavy duty shelters cover all sleeping areas for extra protection.
Basketball, soccer, volleyball and badminton fields are available any time.
The sandy shores of beautiful Lake Huron are 3-4 minutes away if walking.
Green living is even great with sense of comfort: indoor showers, flush toilets and laundry are available. We use facilities of Point Farms Provincial Park that are cleaned daily. Showers were recently renovated.
Special, fun-filled programs are run in a sheltered area during rainy weather.
Nearest hospital: We always have a first-aider on sight to assess health issues and administer medications that are authorized by the parents. As for any serious problems, we are 5 km away from Alexandra Marine & General Hospital.
Sunset watching, night sky observation, listening to trees whisper…it is something that we all miss in our urban living, and DiscoveryLand Camp actively helps children to build direct connections with the natural world and appreciate nature’s diversity. This unique experience might be the first important step towards getting children to think green.
Our goal is to create an environmentally friendly camp with low energy consumption, using a biodegradable cleaning solution, limitation of bottled water usage, wise waste reduction, various crafts projects out of recycled materials and overall green lifestyle.
